Standard we target
This site is built to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That standard is our benchmark for new pages and for changes to existing ones.
What we have done
- Contrast. Text and background color pairs are checked against the WCAG AA contrast ratio rather than judged by eye.
- Semantic structure. Pages use real headings in order, landmark regions, and lists, so screen readers and other assistive technology can navigate the content properly.
- Keyboard navigation. Interactive elements are reachable and operable with a keyboard alone. The mobile menu button carries a visible focus ring, reports its open or closed state to screen readers, and closes with the Escape key.
- Text alternatives. Images carry descriptive alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology so they do not add noise.
- Responsive layout. Pages reflow without horizontal scrolling down to small screen widths, and text scales with browser zoom.
- No motion traps. The site contains no autoplaying media, carousels, or flashing content.
Known limitations
We would rather name the gaps than imply there are none.
- Some documents linked from this site, such as agency forms produced by third parties, may not meet the same accessibility standard. If you need the content of any linked document in an accessible format, contact us and we will provide it.
- This site is maintained by a small firm. We test with keyboard navigation and automated contrast checking, but we do not currently run formal audits with every assistive technology on the market. If something does not work for you, telling us is the fastest way it gets fixed.
